Welcome to Skokie AYSO

The board of Skokie AYSO met on April 7th to discuss our response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and resulting activity cancellations and closures.  We've taken the difficult decision to cancel our remaining Spring 2020 season.  This includes our Core program, EXTRA, and Inter-regional (14U and 19U) programs.  This decision was not taken lightly, and considered the input of the Director of Health for the Village of Skokie, as well as other health officials and health care professionals.  Several factors include:

• The latest CDC models that project that COVID-19 fatalities will be cut in half (from earlier models) assuming we keep social distancing practices in place until August
• Feedback from health care professionals on the ground in our community indicating that hospital operations may  not return to normal until at least June
• Feedback from our members that they are not comfortable returning to play yet, and likely won't be in May, even if stay-at-home orders are lifted

There is just no way to safely play soccer in a social distancing environment.

Refunds will be given under the following parameters:

• All Spring registration fees will be refunded, including the National Player Fee for players who only registered in Spring.

• Players who registered in the Spring and also played in the Fall will receive a $10 coupon code.
• Due to limitations imposed by our credit card processor, we cannot issue refunds to credit cards.  All refunds will be issued  by check.  We are taking steps to limit the amount of contact that we have with your refund checks.  We have a lot of refunds to process, please be patient and allow a few weeks to receive your check.
• Refunds will be issued automatically; there is nothing you need to do to receive a refund.

These refunds will have a huge impact on our budget and funds balance this year.  We bounced around the idea of asking our members to voluntarily waive refunds to help us out.  But there are many other organizations in desperate need of help now, and we also felt it was important to get your money back into your hands first.  So please consider donating your fee refund to a local charity, or if you wish to help us out, contact us at [email protected] to find out how.

We believe that it is unlikely that it will be safe to resume play in April or May. If we, in consultation with the Skokie Park District, Skokie Health Department, and other officials, determine at some point before June 30, 2020 that we can safely play, we will host jamboree-style pick-up scrimmages.  These will be offered to all of our Spring registered players even if you have received a full refund.  More information about this option will be provided as and when it's appropriate to consider playing again.

Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 registration is open now; Fall play dates are September 13 - November 1.  Registration at our website,

Uniforms are intended to be used the entire time a player is in a particular division, for instance players in two years of 10U should keep their uniforms for both years (8 and 9 years old, usually).  We will replace worn or outgrown uniforms.  Reusing our reversible, two-colors-per-division uniforms will help us save money.  Please save your uniforms if your child will be playing next year in the same division.  To see what division they will be in next year, go to  Players moving up to a new division will receive new uniforms in the Fall.

Unfortunately we will not offer trophies this Spring for two reasons: (1) distributing them in a social distancing environment would be a logistical nightmare, and (2) we need to conserve funds due to the large amount of refunds we will be giving.  We hope to resume trophies next year.

As I said above, this decision was difficult and was not taken lightly.  I have coached at least one of my three kids every Spring for the last fifteen years, something that I will badly miss this Spring.  I welcome your feedback, good or bad, you can email me (Regional Commissioner Mike Humphries-Dolnick) personally at [email protected] or PM me on our Facebook page.
